Tom Russell, Chief Meteorologist for WHP CBS 21 News and WHP 580, has had an extensive broadcast career that has taken him all over the country. Born in Baltimore, Tom grew up just south of the mid-state in Northern Maryland. He earned a degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Dayton in Ohio, then went on to study meteorology through Mississippi State. After several years in radio, he went to work for WJHG-TV in Panama City, Florida. While there he lead the Florida Panhandle through hurricanes Earl and Georges in 1998. Tom then moved to WFTV-TV in Orlando where he weathered the threat of hurricane Floyd. (Tom's a big fan of tropical weather!) Tom and his wife live in the Harrisburg area with their two daughters.
Shane Schillaci is the morning meteorologist for WHP CBS 21 News and now also heard on WHP 580. He came to us from WHAG-TV in Hagerstown, Maryland where he was also the morning meteorologist. Shane began his broadcast track with a B.S. in Meteorology at the State University of New York at Brockport. After earning his credentials Shane began his career with Accu-Weather where he forecasted for many utility, newspaper, radio and television clients across the country. An active member of the American Meteorological Society and recently received the prestigious AMS Seal of Approval. In his free time Mr. Schillaci likes to play tennis, golf and jog; that is when he's not spending time with his wife Melissa and two sons, Joseph and Jaden.
Paul Lynch, now heard on WHP 580, is usually seen as News Weekend Meteorologist/Reporter for WHP CBS 21. Prior to joining WHP CBS 21 News, Paul was the Morning/Noon Meteorologist at WHAG-TV in Hagerstown Maryland. He graduated from Millersville University of Pennsylvania in May 2002, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology. While at Millersville University, Paul was actively involved in the Millersville University Chapter of the American Meteorological Society, and also worked for the Millersville University Campus Weather Service. He continues to be an active member of the American Meteorological Society today recently receiving the prestigious AMS seal of approval. Paul was born in Long Island, New York, but moved to Lancaster in 1993. Paul realized quite early that he had an interest in weather, and he can recall going outside in the middle of the night to measure the snowfall with a ruler during those exciting wintertime noreasters. He can also remember other exciting weather events that continued to increase his passion for weather over the years, such Hurricane Gloria and Hurricane Bob that passed directly over his Long Island home. And most recently, Paul helped lead viewers through such major weather events as the Presidents Day Snowstorm of 2003 and Hurricane Isabel. Paul is excited about returning back to Pennsylvania, and he currently resides in Harrisburg Area. In his spare time, Paul enjoys golfing, biking, rollerblading, and spending time with his friends and family.
Erica Grow, Weekend Meteorologist. As a kid growing up in the Lehigh Valley, Erica used to wander outside in the middle of a snowstorm, yardstick in hand, trying to make accurate snowfall measurements. But it wasn't until she was a student at Penn State that she realized she wanted to be a meteorologist. An internship at WYOU in Wilkes-Barre, PA and on-camera experience for CNET in State College got her started in the television business. After receiving her Meteorology degree in 2002, Erica spent about 20 months at KMID in Midland/Odessa, Texas. Despite her love for warm weather being fulfilled by West Texas summers, this Pennsylvania native was thrilled to move to the Harrisburg area. Erica's favorite activities are shopping, gardening, and spending time with her family, friends, and dog Twango. One of her least favorite things to do is run, but she does that a lot anyway.
