The Total Traffic Network came into being in the Midstate in December of 2002 and hit the airwaves in early January 2003. A division of Clear Channel Radio, Total Traffic supplies traffic information to six radio stations in Harrisburg & Lancaster, BOB 94.9 FM, Kiss 99.3 FM, The River 97.3 FM, WHP 580 AM, WLAN FM 97 and Fortress 1230 AM. Thru our state-of-the-art TrafficNet website, we also are able to assist WHP TV 21 with information during their morning and afternoon news broadcasts.

We are in touch with the Pennsylvania State Police, PennDOT, county communication centers, local officials and our own mobile traffic unit to bring the most up-to-date information available to our listeners. Our listeners are also great sources of information as well and we appreciate everyone who was called us regarding a traffic situation on midstate roads. Thank You!

Our Tipline number is 920-TIPS (8477) if you would like to program it into your cell phone to make contact easier.

Our current staff of anchors has over 21 years of combined traffic reporting experience in the Harrisburg-Carlisle-York-Lancaster-Lebanon Markets.

Dave Andrews - Director of Operations
Dave Andrews is a South Central Pennsylvania native, born in Perry County (so he's licensed to tell the jokes) and grew up in Juniata County. He's a graduate of East Juniata High School and Shippensburg University. His radio career began in Harrisburg with the former oldies station of KOOL 94.9 by driving midstate highways giving traffic reports and helping out stranded motorists as his alter-ego Kommander Kool. He left radio in the mid-90's and went to work with the local ABC affiliate as a traffic anchor and news assistant. Dave landed back in radio in late 2002 to help launch the Total Traffic Network here in Harrisburg and is in his 15th year of traffic reporting here in the midstate. He can be heard mornings reporting traffic for WHP 580 AM, BOB 94.9 FM and The River 97.3 FM. Dave lives on the east shore with his wife Tracy and enjoys tying flies, fly fishing for bass, photography, "Ebaying" and NASCAR. He's a certified Frisbee Master and his idea of relaxation is driving in afternoon rush hour traffic. Why? We're not really sure.

Rob Wilber
Rob Wilber has been a Total Traffic member since its Harrisburg debut in January 2003. Since then, he has bravely served as afternoon-drive anchor on 99.3 KISS-FM, FM 97 WLAN, and 1230 AM WKBO, with occasional fill-in stints on other Clear Channel radio stations. A six-year veteran of central PA radio, Rob is the Assistant Program Director of WHP Talk Radio 580 and 1460 AM--The Ticket. A 1998 graduate of Elizabethtown College, Rob is a passionate fan of the 26-time World Champion New York Yankees, a 190-average bowler, and manages the Clear Channel Keggers, our very own softball team.

Chris Garrett
Our producer, Chris Garrett, is the newest member of the Total Traffic team.  Chris was born in Washington D.C. and comes to radio by way of genetics.  His family has been in radio for three generations now.  Chris started working in radio here in Central PA in 2001 in the Promotions Department at WWKL-fm with RJ Harris.  Since that time he’s added to his skills both on and off the air at several stations in the Harrisburg radio market.  When he’s not wearing the producer hat or doing morning traffic reports on FM 97 WLAN and 99.3 KISS FM, he likes to hang out with friends and take long walks around the city with his wife Nicki, who he describes as “a tall HOT blonde.”  In other words, he married up.  He’s a big fan of the West Wing, Heroes, and Jericho and is the father of three terrific kids – William, Makenna, and the newest addition, Jackson.

Melanie Shafer
Melanie Shafer has taken the route of many others in the business. Her radio career started at the bottom of the totem pole and has worked her way upward. Currently, she handles the morning rush hour traffic reports for Fortress 1230 AM WKBO. Like Dave Andrews, she is from Perry County, but moved closer to work. She is a certified work-a-holic. When finding time for TV, she's an avid fan of Dexter, Lost and Smallville. Much to Rob Wilber's dismay, she enjoys tattoos and currently has 16 , with more coming. In the free time she does make for herself she loves to see live music... no matter the genre.
